Talented sprinter Weekend Special ran second on Saturday at Morphettville in a very brave effort after losing a shoe after leaving the barriers and racing bare-footed.

Jason summed his performance in one sentence 'If all horses had his heart, they would be easy to train".

On landing from the barrier talented Adelaide apprentice Jamie Kah said she felt the shoe go and he was reluctant to lead on the near fore foot without the shoe. "Hes a brave horse" she quoted on return to the Mounting Yard.

His effort to still run a very gallant second behind odds on favorite and rising Adelaide star sprinter Argee McLaren was exceptional given the circumstances.

"He set up the tempo out in front giving Argee McLaren the perfect sit in behind. If Weekend Special had not have lost a plate so early in the piece the result may well have been different" Jason explained. "Just a horse with a big heart" he added.
